Stress is a very common problem amongst menopausal women. If you’re stressed, it may not just be affecting you. It may be affecting your loved ones, the people you work with and your friends. It can be hard for you to deal with all around and it’s important for you to de-stress your life as much as possible.
It’s not necessarily your fault or your lifestyle that’s making you so incredibly stressed. In addition to the average daily stresses we may feel, the added stress of menopausal symptoms can be at times overwhelming, to say the least.
Make sure you’re getting enough sleep
Sleep is very important. It’s vital to our body to make sure everything is working correctly. No one is really certain why we sleep, but we know that without it we can have all sorts of physical and mental issues. It’s a time for our bodies to regenerate and rebuild strength. If we are overtired we may also be feeling depressed, sad or anxious. These are all normal symptoms of menopause, but these particular symptoms may also be brought on by lack of sleep. It’s important that we fight symptoms like this immediately so they don’t worsen.
Drink plenty of water
Most people don’t equate water and hydration with stress, but it’s true. If we’re dehydrated, our bodies will feel the burn of life and we may feel run down and uncomfortable. Make sure you’re getting at least six to eight glasses of water a day and if you can handle it; add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar into each glass of water.
Take a hot bath
Chamomile and lavender are fantastic for relieving stress. Steeping these herbs in your bath water can have a wonderfully positive effect on your mood. Dim the lights or take a bath by candle light if you can find the time. And if you can’t find the time, make the time and the effort. It’s important that you take care of yourself right now more than ever. Add some baby oil to your bath to moisturize your body. You’d be surprised how much half a capful can do for your skin when added to the bath water.
Sip on a glass of wine
In most instances, I would suggest avoiding alcohol all together, but a glass of wine in moderation can be extremely relaxing and can help with stress levels as well as insomnia. It’s also healthy for your heart.
Yoga
Yoga is an excellent method for relaxation. It strengthens your muscles and can leave you feeling relaxed and serene. There are many other health benefits to body and mind associated with doing yoga on a regular basis. You can use it to get ready for your workouts or do it on the days which are in between the days you’re working out.
Take a moment to do something for yourself
By now you’ve spent a great deal of your life taking care of other people, but this is the time you need to take care of yourself. Do something nice for yourself at least once a day and get some alone time if that’s what you need. You’ll find this simple thing can make a world of difference.
