Diet can be very important to overall health in general. Sometimes if we are experiencing annoying symptoms and nothing seems to be working, we need to make other lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise.
Fresh food is an important part of a good menopausal diet. Avoid processed food and make food from scratch as often as possible so that you know exactly what you’re putting into it and the health content. For further diet help you can visit http://www.fitday.com and join for free. This site helps you keep track of your daily activity, vitamins and the food that you’re eating. It will tell you exactly how much fat, calories, etc is in foods that you eat and you can make unique entries if you want to take the time so sit down and enter in package information from store bought foods.
Fresh fruits and vegetables are vital to any healthy diet and there are many healthy properties to incorporating them into your diet while you are in menopause. You can also add sliced fruit to cereal (most people use bananas, strawberries or raspberries, but you should try some slices of apply too). Carrot sticks and dried apricots are great foods to snack on throughout the day or to take with lunch. Finish your day with a banana before bedtime.
Cut back on cheese. A lot of people are addicted to cheese (I am one of those people), but unfortunately it’s not the healthiest for us. Cheese has a lot of fat and calories packed into a very small amount.
Stick with whole grain breads, pasta, cereal and rice. Menopausal women should stay away from junk food if at all possible. Make healthier choices like veggie chips, rice cakes and things of that nature.
Watch your proportions as this is very important. Even eating too much of a good food can be harmful and fattening. Be aware of the foods you are eating and be smart when you’re in public and ordering. It is possible to order healthy food when you’re out and about. Eating something that’s not so good for us is okay every once in a while, but if you can’t stop, don’t start. Always eat in moderation and remember that several small meals throughout the day is better for our metabolism as well as for burning calories and creating energy to feed our bodies.
Make sure you’re drinking six to eight glasses of water a day. It’s very important that we stay hydrated. If you can stomach it, you might consider adding one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to your ice water. This can take some getting used to, but it is beneficial to getting rid of the body’s excess water, helping to maintain and lose weight and fighting off illnesses. Eventually you get a taste for the vinegar and can drink more of it at a time. I personally have spent my entire life drinking vinegar water and can’t get enough of it!
