Why Do I Feel So Anxious?

Unfortunately feelings of sadness, depression, mood swings and anxiousness are common for women who are experiencing late menopause. It’s important to pay attention to your feelings and speak to your friends, family members and doctor if you feel your feelings get out of control or you need help.

Depression

Depression is a common complaint for menopausal women.  We may become depressed because of the chemical and hormonal imbalances going on in our bodies, but it also may be due to the other symptoms we’re experiencing.  Some women experience very little in the way of symptoms during menopause, whereas others go through years of discomfort and sometimes pain.  Going through a prolonged negative physical experience like this can absolutely bring your mood down.

If your feelings of depression intensify or you feel like you may do harm to yourself or someone else, it’s extremely important that you not keep these feelings to yourself.

Mood Swings

Everyone jokes about menopausal mood swings, but it’s no laughing matter.  Mood swings are a serious symptom of menopause, early or late.  Again, it happens for the same reasons we may experience depression.  Fluctuating body chemicals and hormones play a huge role in why we may experience mood swings.

Just remember to slow down and if your feelings and moods get out of control, seek medical attention or alternative treatment options.  Don’t leave everything locked up inside of you, because it won’t get you anywhere.  It’s important to be open and honest about these feelings and give the people around you the opportunity to understand and help with what’s going on inside of you.

Feelings of Anxiousness

Anxiety can be difficult to deal with.  It can give us problems at work, at home and even in the car.  Feelings of extreme anxiousness need to be dealt with appropriately and sometimes with the use of doctor prescribed medications.

Just remember that all women go through menopause at some point and many if not all of them experience some of the same symptoms as you are.  It may be helpful to connect with other women either in person or online to talk about what’s affecting them and how they’re dealing with it, as well as sharing your own stories and triumphs.

There are herbal supplements and herbs out there which can be beneficial to these types of mood changes, however, my suggestion would be to use them with caution.  Herbs, when used in bad combinations, can be dangerous and so the user must be careful and check into whether or not these herbs can be taken with other supplements and medications.

No matter which road you take, make sure it is a safe and good road for your menopausal journey.
