Experiencing menopause late can increase the risk of breast cancer and unplanned pregnancies (not to mention risky) late in life, but there are many benefits to going through menopause later than others.

For example, the month you were born in may be of help in figuring out when you can expect to go through menopause. Women born in October tend to go through menopause around age 50.3 years old. Women born in March tend to go through menopause around age 48.3, and so on.
We can only speculate as to why the month we’re born in contributes to when we go through menopause, however, there is some talk that it has something to do with the seasons and whether or not we are exposed to different infections, diseases, etc at various ages.
Another factor in when a woman may go through menopause is whether or not they’ve ever taken birth control. Women who had taken birth control typically start menopause around age 51.6. Studies show that women who have never taken birth control tended to reach menopause around age 51.0.
Other studies show that a woman’s diet can have a big influence on what age she starts menopause at. It’s important to stay fit and active and to promote good heart health. Women who go through menopause later in life are exposed to female hormones for a longer period of time. This can increase the risk of ovarian, breast and uterine cancers.
Women, who experience bleeding in between periods, after intercourse or excessive bleeding during menstruation, should seek medical attention immediately as this could be a sign of other serious medical conditions or illnesses.
