I m 54 yrs now. I started having knee pain from 50 when i started my menopause.Plse advise?
I am 68 and throughout life have had a few accidents that caused damage to my knees. Sometimes they are better then worse.
At about 62 or 63 they were horrible. Super swollen and painful.
I used ice and Excedrin like crazy. Then I got steel hinged knee braces and Ibuprofen (it works on inflammation of the joint and tissue around the area). Those two things completely healed my knees.
The steel hinged, velcro strapped knee supports take your body weight off the joint and allow it (with the Ibuprofen) to heal. My healed completely in about two to three weeks.
Of course then I developed Auto Immune disorder (so it could have been the Auto Immune attacking the knee areas). Auto immune moves around your body. Mine went from my knees to my thumbs, and wrist joints then elbows(I couldn't life anything heavier than a very few ounces).
Then I got the flu and it went to fight the flu and after that was over, I went into remission for several months, next it moved to my low back and upper back and neck. It is an interesting incurable illness that you just learn to deal with. But getting my knees healed was major.
I have been able to keep working, I do active work that requires driving, lifting and lots of walking.
Now for control of the pain (I forgot it all started with several months of exhaustion and deep tissue fatique and pain). I take Vicodin upon rising and about 4 hours later another. Then afternoons I take Excedrin and or Ibuprofen as needed. Then to sleep I take Ibuprofen and a night time PM to get a pain free night. This is about the 4 th or 5 th year of this routine.
Good Luck with finding a good solution to your problems.. I hope you do get the steel hinged velco (not elastic, it compresses the painful areas and makes them worse.) and the Ibuprofen. It so so successful for me.
Mine is not menopause related as I went into surgical menopause at 37.

Answers:
There is no correlation between knee pain or menopause. It's probably just wear & tear on the body, depending on how active you have been through yr life. If you are in pain then yr body is giving you signals that you need help. Please go & see a GP asap. Take care & good luck
In a woman's menopausal stage muscles is really experiencing soreness and stiffness. That is why it is advisable that women in this stage must exercise to boost up endorphins which are our body's natural painkillers.
