Hot flashes and menopause?

My wife at 50 is going through menopause but figures that's normal and will run it's own course. However, she does go through "hot flashes" on a daily basis and bitches about it but refuses to consult a doctor about these hot flashes. Of course I, in the mean time have to listen to her constantly griping about them. Is there any medication, over the counter, that will help her get some relief from these flashes?

Hi....I am no expert in this, but my mother also moans about it haha. There are options that can help reduce them, in fact sometimes get rid of them completly. However, a lot of woman choose not to use these as the common medication is basically a concoction of hormones, that have been debated as being bad for you. Sorry I can't remember what they were called.

She also tried a cream that was a more natural product...I think it worked, when she remembered to use it.

There are options, and sorry I couldn't be more useful.
